CX3-20 with HS21 Blade server
Hello ,
i have to connect a Blade server with My CX3-20 through a Brocade 200E switch.
when i check the interoperability it shows that it has base connectivity.
but when i connect my FC cable on the switch port , it shows in-sync.
can anyone let me know is there any specific setting to be made on switch or on blade server so that my switch link is up and shows online.
thanks in advance.

Ok - please clarify whether the IBM Blade chassis has FC switch modules (separate from the 200E) or if it uses FC pass-through.
Can you also run the command 'licenseshow' on the 200E switch and post the output?

Is it a Qlogic Intelligent passthru module? This needs the 200E to be NPIV enabled on the ports connecting to it - from the IBM Redbook
REDP-4342-00
"Each port of an external switch which is connected to the QLogic 4 Gb Intelligent Pass-thru
Module has to be NPIV enabled."
Can you also please post the output from the (200E) switch commands 'version', 'switchshow' & 'portcfgshow'

It would be worth reviewing the IBM Redbook (REDP-4342-00) for the passthru module to make sure that it is configured & mapped correctly, but from my reading of the Interoperability Navigator output it looks like a 200E switch at 5.3.0a is not supported with the Qlogic passthru module - if it is a 43W6723.
Supported versions are 5.2.2 or 5.2.1b for the Brocade 200E (i.e. below your current level) & v6.5.0.17 for the Qlogic. More recent Brocades are supported with newer fw levels but none are supported at 5.3.0a.

Hello Everyone,
now i am able to see the switch ports online with the HBA from the Blade center. there was a configuration mis match on the Blade chasis. i have zoned the switches with the clariion ports.
i do have another issue which came up after the configuration.
i have windows 2008 64bit server installed on the machine. when i install Powerpath 5.3.0 64bit on the machine , it is not detecting the Arrays, Luns or the HBA on the server. i have tried uninstalling and re intalling on the server but that didnt help me out. can you please let me know which powerpath version to be installed on this blade sever and why that issue occurs.
i can see the LUNS on the HBA and the Disk Management on the machine. but unable to see it on the Powerpath monitor.
Did anyone came across such a situation , when you install powerpath and it wont detect the HBA , Array or the Luns assigned on the machine. i have installed Powerpath 5.3 for 64bit ms signed from powerlink.
any suggetions??

Hi Dynamox,
no it is not the windows 2008 R2, i have windows 2008 server standard edition. so i have installed powerpath 5.3.0.
on device manager, the Powerpath LAM drivers are showing exclamation marks(Yellow bangs). so i removed powerpath compleately from the server and verified even in the registry for any keys and made sure everything is cleared.
then i have re installed powerpath 5.3.0 but still the result is the same.
any suggetions.
