I assume you are replacing the drive with a working and correct part. It may be very stupid to ask but request you to kindly ensure the same (correct replacement part and the replacement disk is also not bad). If the issue persists, it may be an issue on the backend bus - I'll suggest to open a case with EMC CLARiiON Support (assuming it is EMC supported one).

You may try by taking a disk from another hot spare which is not is use - and put the disk on the faulted slot to check whether it is a slot issue or not.

Thanks,
Sandip

It is part number 005-048012, its the same part number and its known to be tested. I have spare parts available ( It is not EMC Supported ) but I have a good deal of knowledge on the clariion system its hardware and software. Would replacing the entire DAE possibly fix the issue..?

I hope replacing the DAE will fix the issue - but not sure whether there may be any other issue/area of concern (Version of Flare, LCC firmware etc). Request others in this forum to provide their valuable comments/suggestions, if any.

Wish your problem gets solved quickly. Have a great weekend.

Try issuing the following from both SPA and SPB:

navicli -h SPx_IP_Address getdisk B_E_D -state

B = bus number
E = Enclosure number
D = disk number

for disk 0 in enclosure 1 on bus 2, the command is:

navicli -h SPx_IP_Address getdisk 2_1_0 -state

This should return the state of the disk from both SPA and SPB - if it shows removed on both SP's try powering off the DAE.

If it shows removed on just one SP, again, try powering off the DAE. If that doesn't work, reboot the SP that shows the Disk as removed.

As Glen suggested, please try rebooting the DAE first.

The drive is not visible to any of the SP's at this time. Should we replace the LCC or reboot the DAE?
