Document RAIDGROUP/LUN layout
Hi All,
We currently run 8 CX3-80 SANs and we would like to document our RAIDGROUP/LUN layout over the DAE's in some graphical way...
Looking back in the history of this forum, I notice several users have the same question and a couple of solutions come up:
1) CAP2 tool (Apparently can analyse SPCollects and make an overview)
2) EMC Control Center with StorageScope
3) VisualSRM
4) ReportClariion
As it seems, most (If not all) of those tools are not available for download for end-users
Does anybody have a suggestion or a tool that could solve our documentation problem?
Our environment is forever changing, and keeping track of all the changes and what is available and what not is quite hard...
Hope you guys might have some sugggestions
With kind regards,
Fred

However, with the introduction of Flare Release 24 (and the bundled Navisphere Manager 6.24) the Navisphere Taskbar became available. One of the functions of the taskbar is the "Reporting" tab, which start a wizard that will guide you through various available reports. From your query, it looks like the "Available Storage Report" within the Configurations group will meet your needs, but there are also "RAID Groups," "Physical Disk Details," and "LUN" reports.
Reporting is just one of the several usability enhancements that are in the Navisphere Taskbar, which is in turn of of the many general improvements in Flare starting with Release 24 and going on to Release 26. You may want to review the Release Notes for both new versions on Powerlink.

I am aware that R24 and R26 have the reporting feature, and it is a step in the good direction.
But don't you agree that a picture like the one I linked earlier(http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n428/Fredster2008/LUNLayout.jpg) would give a much better understanding?
In a graphical overview it is much easier to see what is available and what not...
Why is CAP2 (Or a reduced version) not available to endusers, if it could help them maintain their systems?
It would make life a lot easier

Good to see that you have used the reporting feature, although I wish it met all your needs. While the "Available Storage Report" does have a graphical overview of which disks are available and which are not, it does not look exactly the same as CAP2. If you have a free minute you may want to check to see if it meets your needs, as you can easily get updated versions of Navisphere, but the version of CAP you have may be out of date.
We are constantly looking for ways to improve on the usability and functionality of our CLARiiON Management interface, and your feedback is appreciated.
