If you are on FLARE 24 or above you can generate nice xml reports that can be imported into spreadsheets. If you are not on FLARE 24 or above it is a lot harder to get the data you want, it is pretty much a manual process for lower revs of FLARE.

If you have a good relation ship with your ASN rep you can ask him to do this for you, no matter FLARE level you are on. You will need to provide him with SPCollect files from the SPs which he can then turn into xml and excel spreadsheets using CAP2¿

I hope this helps

Okay, thanks for the suggestions. I'd like to get FLARE updated but need to get it approved and scheduled.

I'm a nice ASN ;) and yes, I have access to the latest CAP2..... ;) ;)

CAP2 is great for documenting a Clariion !

Its a SP collect analysis tool...CAP-Clariion array properties...used by emc tech support. The output of the tool gives you a very systematic description of the array storage/LUN config.

Thanks

What is CAP2?

U need to open both the SPcollects using CAP and then save it as .xls format

CAP can be downloaded from ASN site> Clariion tools

This is a beautiful tool which gives u the complete info.

But for those of us that are just end users of the arrays :-) and don't have access to those tools, the FLARE 24 and above array reports and a spreadsheet are about the only feasible option.

Make an SPCollect and ask your friendly CE to run them through CAP2 for you and send you the output. He will do that for you; I'm pretty sure of that.

My homegrown design workbook template in Excel is prettier and has a different level of detail than the CAP2 excerts. Thanks for the suggestion though...
