EDL to Clariion
We have an EDL DL4000 series which is not being used anymore now since an year. Nobody has any information(no IP, No configuration detail) about DL4000 System. Using its hardware, I mounted only the SPs and DAEs and tried to use its backend i.e. CX3 Block storage for our use. No EDL Server is connected only SPS,SP and DAEs connected.
Now I tried to find the IP address of the existing Hardware :
Used - WireShark, Navisphere Initialization Tool, Tried setup page with 192.168.1.1/2/3/ setup - No Luck.
I want to use these hardwares for my block storage only as CX3 and not as EDL now. How can I make use of these hardwares.
Any Help will be highly appreciated....

you will need to figure out SP IP information. One thing to remember is that CX3 being used as backend for EDL does not have AccessLogix license, that means you will not be able to create multiple storage groups and connect different hosts, anything you connect to this array will see every single LUN.

Thanks....I think,I will be okay with assigning the whole storage to one SG for VMWARE server and use them on virtual machines.
I was looking for any method by which i can use this Hardware afresh and re-initialize this as block? when i
Finding IP of this looks tough- Any other method to find the IP apart from mentioned above?
Or any other clue.....???

Hi Dynamox,
Last time when i was not able to find the IP address, Now I am able to go to the Setup page.
The Problem was : I connected HSSDC Cable from SPA to LLC B and SPB to LLC A
I re-mounte all the enclosures and reconnected everything and powered on.
I tried comminicating to the SP Directly and was able to login to SPA and B setup page(128.221.1.250/setup with mask 255.255.255.248), But even after applying several default User and password, I wasnt able to get through.
Is there any other default User/password to try apart from below.
User/passwords I tried are : emc/emc , admin/password, dladmin/password, clariion/clariion!, clariion1992/clariion1992, admin/emcemc, administrator/password, navispher/password
None of them worked.
When this did not happen I tried with PPP Connection as well with windows 7 using serial cabple (RJ Kind connector on SP then Serial to usb connector, the USB on the PC). While dialing through SP by adding COM Port as communication between computers, Connect tab was grayed and was not able to proceed untill I give any dialing number.....
Attached is for reference...

It is. Install sr_client.exe (EMC Remote exe) as an administrator. Once, installed Right Click and change the compatibility to Windows XP SP3/SP2.

Thank you both for helping me out on this implementation.
Initially,
~ None of the user/password worked for me to login to 128.221.1.250/setup.
~ Logged in through EMC remote to the SP's, Tried creating "Users" with new user/password with Administrator rights and tried to login again through setup page with new user account created.(Is this way, Anything possible? Just tried Didnt work).
~ Also Did "Ipconfig/All" on the SP through EMC Remote- I was able to see the previous IP used on the SP. Tried login through that IP, It was not accessible at all. (Is this way anything could be achieved??)
~ Connected through micro DB9 Serial cable, Tried to access "128.221.1.250/setup" , it was again asking for User/password which did not work.
~ then I tried "192.168.1.1/setup" which shows the setup page directly without asking credentials.
~ Quickly Destroyed security domain and reconfigured the clariion with new user accounts.
~ Successfully was able to Log in to the Navisphere manager now with the desired IPs. Ready to configure and provision.
~ But when I tried to create the "Storage Group" it returned with error and couldnt create. (As dynamox updated).
~ Checked the Acess Logix in the properties of the Array-Software tab- "Access Logix" was installed and active.
~ then at the same place in the "Access Control Tab", check mark the access logix.
~ After checking the Access Logix Tab, It grayed out and i wasnt able to uncheck it, even in Engineering mode. Probably it can be done again if required throgh SP Navicli commands.(Whts the command?)
~ Now i was able to create Storage groups.
~ Now It looks as if the CLARIION is separeted from EDL completely and working idependetly as an ONLY clariion Machine.

No Problem. Glad to know it will help you in future.
To Enable Access Logix:
navicli -h storagegroup enable
To Disable Access Logix:
navicli -h sc_off

remember without AccessLogix you will not be able to place any hosts into storage group.

AccessLogix is a option on the old CX arrays before EMC started to included it for free in the newer models. With the EDL, I'm not sure that you can get the standalone enabler. Without that you can't create storage groups - it's setup as a JBOD - all hosts connected can see all LUNs.
