Not sure on the frequency - but it's a message that you should be able to ignore.

The messages you want to watch for are the 71310007 - see knowledgebase article emc126960.

This looks like a connection message - generally you see these when you have a mirrorview connection.

The 0xd42d60b060010650:1 is referring to a port on another array - the signature (0x160b0e) is a number that is returned when you issue the:

"navicli -h IP_SPx getagent" - there is a different signature for each SP.

Here is a getagent example:

Agent Rev: 6.26.7 (0.87)
Name: K10
Desc:
Node: A-APM00050704279
Physical Node: K10
Signature: 1384452 <-------------- this is the signarture for SPA
Peer Signature: 1374520 <-------------- this is the signarture for SPB (peer)
Revision: 2.26.301.5.014
SCSI Id: N/A
Model: CX300i
Model Type: Rackmount
Prom Rev: 3.62.00
SP Memory: 1024
Serial No: APM00050704279
SP Identifier: A
Cabinet: DPE2

Any ideas as to what causes this event to be logged? What in mirrorview triggers this event? I want to understand why I get this event on a consistent bases.

Probably disconnects - you should see other messages similar to this one in the logs - without seeing more of the logs, I would hazard a guess that you're experiencing connection issues - are your mirrors fracturing?

I talked to one of the mirrorview people and he said that this is probably like a heartbeat - each array is just checking to see if the link is still there and the message is that, yes, the link is still up.

Sorry about that,

Its a CX700 with FLARE 02.26.700.5.014 using MVS across a 2 Gig pipe. The FLARE just got upgraded last week because of some 4640 Access is denied to Navi_SyncSecondaryMirrorImage messages. I'm waiting for support to review the SP Collects and get back to me.

It would be helpful if you supply the array model and flare version and if you have mirrorview running.

Should I be seeing this on all the SPs?

You should probably be seeing this on both SPA and SPB

I see some on SPA & SPB on my primary side, not my secondary side. Is that right? Also, how often should I be seeing them?

Thanks for all your help Glen. I have been to busy to post anything the last few days. I am seeing the messages a lot more on one SP (SPA on primary), about 50 per min. Support has not gotten back to me on why this is happening. It seems like a lot of records to me, but I¿m not an expert. I just want to understand why I¿m getting so many, and way only on one SP. Any other information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty much out of ideas - if you have case open now, I would use that to find out what these messages are - from what I do know you should be able to ignore the messages, but 50.min does seem excessive.

You have a bad SPS (battery backup) and need it replaced. You should open a case with EMC to get it replaced
