Hotspare LUNs have read/write cache disabled
Hi All,
I am working in a new environment (CX4-960 and a CX3-40) and ran the diagnostics capture/analyze via USM and SPCollects via CAP2 respectively on the Clariions. The USM flagged the private LUNs in the Hotspare RGs as having read/write cache disabled on the CX4. The CAP2 did not flag the same with the CX3-40 although the cache is disabled on its LUNs as well.
I've honestly never seen or paid attention to that, but in this case it jumpted out, and I am pondering if the cache is disabled because it is enabled anyway on the LUNs that would potentially benefit from a HS kicking in?

When the HotSpare is Inactive the Read and Write Cache will be disabled as there's no data on it nor there will be any I/O activity on it.

Another tip - CAP2 is no longer supported for CX4 and higher, please install the USM (Unisphere Service Manager) from PowerLink to view SPcollects going forward.

Right. I ran CAP2 against the SP Collects of the CX3-40 only. With the CX4, I used the USM as you mentioned.
