How PowerPath is licensed - Per Host / Per Processor ?

Hi,

We would like to know how PowerPath is licensed.  Is it licensed per host or per processor ?

Currently, we are using PowerPath for a 2 processor Windows Host and there is only 1 license found when we type the command "powermt check_registration".

Besides, can end users download PowerPath or access is only allowed for Partners ?

Thanks

Tony

PowerPath is licensed on per CPU bases, there is also a different price for x86_64 and for Sparc/Power systems.  There is one license file for PowerPath, regardless of how many CPU you have in your server.  When it comes to pricing and licenses it's best to contact your local EMC team. Yes, customers can download powerpath but you need a license to get hba failover/load balancing functionality.

We just want to get more information before talking to sales rep.

My colleague finds a different pricing model as follow ?

https://community.emc.com/thread/100453

Besides, we just wonder whether we can transfer our previous license from previous servers to the new one ?

Thanks

Hi,

Do you think that the thread reflects the latest licensing model of PowerPath ?

Besides, could we transfer the license from previous license to new machines ?

Is there any fellow can give us a link to see the PowerPath Licensing details ?

Thanks again

when i last checked with my TC a few weeks ago it was licensed per CPU. Regarding license transfer ..i can imagine your sales team can either transfer them or give you some kind of credit for them. Sales team can work magic.
