How to activate DATA LOGGING in CX700
I need to activate DATA LOGGING on a CX700 because I need to retrieve .NAR files for a analysis?. The CLARiiON is in Fault state, this will allow me to activate it?

Are you asking if Statistics Logging can be turned on for an array that is currently faulted? If so, I don't know of any limitation preventing it, but it might depend on the fault.
The easy way to check is to log into NaviSphere Manager for the array, right click on the array itself (on the Storage tab) and select Properties.
On the General Tab (the default) of the Properties dialog you should see a configuration section in the middle. Statistics Logging should be a check box on this section. If it is grayed out, I'd be curious to know what kind of a fault is on the array. If it isn't grayed out, check it off and click on OK.

I have to say that maybe there's a misunderstanding, because Data Logging is not the same as Statistic Log, which is easily activated by just selecting the checkbox on the Properties menu of the CLARiiON array. Data logging let the user retrieve the .NAR files which are information about: performance, I/Os and some sort of other things.
If someone has this answer it would be fully appreciated!

Actually I need it for a Health Check service, so, maybe that's why I can't retrieve the .NAR files, because I JUST activated the statistics logging (which was disabled). So I will wait 26 hours to start getting the .NAR files.
Thanks for your help.

You don't have to wait the full 26 hours to pull off the NAR file, but you will have to wait long enough to get some useful amount of data. Until you turn on the logging, the array doesn't gather anything, so as soon as you turn it on the NAR file would be empty anyway when you tried to pull it (as long as you wait long enough for it to initialize). If you try again now you will probably see some data already, but for a very small timeframe.
The other thing you might want to take into consideration... depending on what the scope of the health check is) is that you can increase the granularity of the data in the NAR file by modifying the settings in the Data Logging dialog. If you reduce the interval from 15 minutes (I think that's the default) to 5 minutes, you would get more accurate data, but it would only store a bit less than 9 hours worth before "rolling over". It also increases the load on the CLARiiON Storage Processors a bit, but if they aren't your bottle neck this can sometimes be a useful troubleshooting technique.
Just remember to set it back to default if you do change it, so next time someone asks what was going on 18 hours ago you can tell them

For clarification, Statistics logging is the feature that has to be turned on for the array to gather the data for the NAR file. Once this is turned on you can pull the NAR file using the GUI or the SecureCLI. I believe the feature you are talking about is the ability to automate the gathering of this data in case you need to see historic data (more than ~26 hours).
If all you need is to see performance data from the last ~26 hours, you don't need anything more.
There is a function called Data Logging that lets you change the frequency of data collection. This also directly affects the amount of time you get your historic data for. It does not turn the function on or off (at least not in FLARE 19 or 22)
Can you clarify exactly what you need the data for?

Also, you must have the Analyzer package installed to retrieve NAR files.
In release 24, Analyzer is installed in a Service mode - you can collect archive files, but the files are encrypted as NAZ files. Once you purchase the Analyzer module, the archive files are saved as NAR.
This was done so that everyone with release 24 can at least gather up to 7 days of logs without purchasing Analyzer - support as a tool that can decrypt the NAZ files.
Analyzer is quite different from prior releases, there are also new CLI commands for Analyzer. In release 24, you need to click on the "Start" button in the "Data Logging" to start collecting files. You'll notice that all buttons in the Data Logging are grayed out - when you install the Enabler, this will allow the other options to be changed.

You need to ask to EMC-CS group to install in the CLARiiON the "CLARiiON Analyzer" package, which will let you obtain the recopilate the data and to retrieve them (in .NAS format) from the CLARiiON.
