How to put performance stats into NAR files, and retrieve it?

When i do a "-archive -list", the latest NAR file is a week old, so how do i force a new NAR created so it can collect performance stats for say the next hour and dump it into the newly created NAR file so i can retrieve it?

yes, restart both SPA and SPB.

I've found that it will work for some - say a couple of days, and for others, longer - a couple of weeks or more - I have not found a pattern that will tell me how long it will create NARs and when it will stop.

data logging seems to be enabled on the array, if i go to "Analyzer->Data Logging", the "Periodic Archiving" box is checked, and the "Start" button is gray'ed out, only the "Stop" button is available, that seems to suggest, at least for me, that data logging is enabled...

as for the article describing how to retrieve NAR files via scripts, yes it's helpful, as i can confirm that "-archiveretrieve" is the parameter one would use to retrieve a NAR file, but there has to be a relevent NAR file in place in order to retrieve it, isn't it? my problem is the latest NAR is dated a week old, and i did retrieve it and opened it, it is indeed a week old

so what do i do now?

Please Knowledgebase articles emc163368 and emc148982 - they explain how to use Analyzer. You might also want to review the on-line Help - look for the section about Analyzer.

my thinking is the performance stats is logged somewhere, be it a temporary place or even in memory, but not formally committed to a NAR file, so i went to the "Analyzer->Retrieve Archives", and tried to create a new archive, but it failed, the response is "Less than 10 samples have been collected since the last archive was created, please try again later", the archiving interval is the default 600 seconds, which is short of 2 hours, the latest NAR file is dated a week ago, it should have created a new NAR file by now?

ah, the patch revision the array has is only 17, so this is a bug, a minor question about the temporary fix, when restarting the management server on the SP's, do i have to restart both SP's?

Glen, thank you very much for your help! we are upgrading the CX3 to 26 pretty soon, i'll make a note the patch level should be at least 20.

No problem - new patch for release 26 coming out tomorrow - check the release notes - there are some additional fixes for Analyzer.
