LUN Migration of MSCS Shared Disk?

We're looking to upgrade our exising CX3-20 to a CX4-480, however we first need to remove the contention on DAE0 so that the Flare OS can be upgraded. To do so all LUNs and MetaLUNs will be migrated from the raid group on DAE0 to other DAEs.

This is simple enough, except for some concern over migrating LUNs which are physical disks in a Windows Server 2003 R2 cluster using MSCS. MSCS uses the disk signature to identify which disk is which physical disk resource in the cluster....

Does LUN migration change the disk signature?

The LUN will be exactly the same, although it's now physically located on other disks, maybe even on another DAE, but the LUN is still the same. As Dynamox said: your host will never know that the LUN is now somewhere else.

lun migrator is a block level copy, your host will never know that anything changed.

Much appreciated, that's one less thing to be concerned about!

Roll on testing the Server Cluster Recovery Utility...
