Migration from Netapp to EMC Clariion
Hi,
our customer wants to decommision their netapp boxes and before this they want to migrate data to clariion systems.
Any idea how its done. I'm looking for documents and procedural steps as this is very critical process.i have heard of open replicator(but dont know how it works as I never tried OR),
any other methods apart from OR?
has anyone experienced Migration from Netapp to EMC Clariion boxes?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

How are your current NetApp customer accessing the data? CIFS, NFS, FC, iSCSI? If CIFS and NFS is there any multi-protocol access? This info will determine the options for migration.
Thanks

We moved from a NetApp to an EMC box last year. We only used CIFS and iSCSI here so the move was pretty simple.
I used the emcopy tool (comes with the EMC software cd) to move the CIFS. You can use many different switches with it and it its multistream so its fast as well. I used it to copy over all the data and permissions with no problems. I ran the script nightly to get any data that had changed on the netapp so it was in sync with the EMC.
For iSCSI we only used it for VMWare so i just used the live migration function of VMWare to move the VM data to the new iSCSI lun areas on the EMC.
