Move existing LUN to new server

Hi All,

we have some LUN's created on CX700 assigned to Enterprise Vault 6.0 server runnig Windows 2003 32bit, now we have built a new Enterprise Vault server with version 8.0 with server hardware also changed from existing one. Can you all provide the necessary precautions to be taken before presenting these LUNs to new Enterprise Vault server so that we dont loose data and can rollback?

thanks and regards,

Samir Shaik

typically that's all  you would do but i am not sure how Enterprise Vault plays into the picture. Doesn't it create stub files for data that's been archived ?

Also would like to add that the new server hardware is configured with Microsoft Clustering as well.

do you have a  snapview license ? Take a snapshot of your source LUN, present it to the new server. If everything get discovered ok, you can view your data and you feel comfortable, repeat the process with production LUNs.

Unfortunately not at the moment, but there is also hardly space left for storing RLP or snapshots on this array.

Would it be straight forward by creating a new Storage group add new host and exisiting Lun from old server to it?
