PowerPath 5.1 issues

Hi,
has anyone found issues with compatibility of powerpath 5.1 with clariion, cause with Powerpath 5.1 on our Windows 2003 server it doesnt configure second path to the SP...

As a resolution I have removed 5.1 and installed 4.5 version of Powerpath and now everything is working fine.
Please help me if this is the only fix or are there any more fixes?

I've been using 5.1 on Win2K3 with no issues. Was this an isolated incident or did you try multiple hosts?

Also, are you running multiple HBAs? Is the PowerPath license installed?

Perhaps some weird combo of HBA / firmware / Flare code ? I don't know.
I'm running PP51 as well on Win2k3 without probs.

Run an EMCRPTS and upload the zipfile to Home > Support > Product and Diagnostic Tools > Environment Analysis Tools > Host Environment Analysis Tool (HEAT) to get hints and tips about possible patches and / or upgrades.

customers do not have access to HEAT (unfortunatelly), i have to always ask my CE to run them through HEAT for me.

Since March 10 HEAT is available on Powerlink for me. Now I'm a partner, so I have access, but indeed: when I switch into customer mode, it's gone.....

Right, quit teasing us with those partner only tools :D

Sasamir,
I have not had any issues with PP5.1, and in fact have been trying to get all my hosts on it as it seems to be very stable and handles the administrative addition and removal of paths quite well.

Did you have any eFixes installed for the previous version of PP when you installed 5.1? Leaving eFixes in place can cause problems for the new product.

i wish it was ...it would be nice for customer to upload a bunch of grabs and be able verify versions themselves ( I am hoping PowerLink people are reading this thread :) )

You could always fill out an enhancement request for EMC to make HEAT available ;)

Enhancement request process is like "black hole" ..things go in but never come out.

hey Rob ..since you have access to HEAT now ..can i send my grab files to you ? Even though you are in Netherlands you are still easier to reach then my local CE :D

I have customer account...EMC had provided us HEAT report via email since two years almost...

we could just mail the grab and an automated bot would provide us HEAT report! now we have been advised about HEAT via powerlink method..

could it be because we are platinum custs :D

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do that. I guess 1 or 2 grabs would be ok.....

A quick clarification to avoid any confusion, the Automated HEAT report may be available to only those customers who had prior access to HEAT report by email. Which justifies Kiran's case, as he had earlier email access to HEAT, now he may be able to get automated HEAT utility on the Net using Powerlink authentication and I understand proper notification has already been sent. This may not be the case for all as of now - may be available in near future.

You may contact EMC Support for any more clarification or checking your access levels - please direct your email to support@emc.com.

Thanks,
Sandip
