Reload FLARE on CX4-240
Greetings,
We have an old Clariion CX4-240 we were going to decommission. Prior to decommissioning I was tasked to wipe the disks with navicli using this procedure:
CLARiiON Data Erasure - DIY edition - FastStorage
Now we are looking to re-purpose that Clariion for a month or 2 to backup the data from our VNXe, but in wiping the disks is looks like the software has been erased from the SAN, and we cannot even access the management of it. We have tried hooking up a crossover network cable and trying to get to 192.168.1.1, but that didn't work. We also tried using a serial cable to the management RJ45 serial port and setting up a PPP connection, but that didn't work either. Is there an easy way to reload the system like it was a new install? This system is out of support, so calling EMC support isn't really an option.

The only way that I know is to get what's called a "Vault Pack" - these are the five vault disks pre-laoded in the factory
Each Pack will work for all models

Would I need to match the vault disks that are currently in the system, or could I use any of the Vault packs? Also, I have seen a set of Vault disks on Ebay for a CX4-960, would they work in our CX4-240?

You do not have to match size, I believe that on a CX4 you do still have to match interface with the other drives in that enclosure; so FC for FC, or SATA for SATA.
While I was going to say that the 960 disks wouldn't be a good match with the 240, the note that glen posted has me thinking that they would/might (remember, nothing on ebay is certain...) : "Each Pack will work for all models".
I believe I would also make sure that it was from a block only if you have a CX, not a Unified system, as the vault drives also have data on them for the control station and data movers in a Unified box. So CX4, or NS4 to match your unit.
