Setting up Dell/EMC CX200 with Windows 2008

I'm trying to get an old CX200 box working with a Windows 2008 server w/ Brocade 815HBA.  I've created two RAID groups and two Storage Groups on the system.  I'm trying to get the host to see the box.  But when I try to create a initiator record I keep getting the "The WWN that was entered is formatted incorrectly.  The valid format for a WWN is a 16 byte hexadecimal string.  Any help/assistance would be greatly appreciated.  The box is old and I don't have much docs now.

With the switch installed, you should not need to manually register the host on the array - it should just log in. You can also install the Navisphere Host Agent to make auto-registration work. In Navisphere, right click on the array icon (the serial number) and select Connectivity Status - you should see the host logged in.

windows 2008 requires support for SC3 scsi commands, that CX200 is so old that i don't think it supports it. What is the flare version on it ?

Base 02.05.1.20.5.008 ...? Not sure if this dictates the flare version.  We moved over to NetApp stuff so I'm trying to recall as much as possible.

that looks pretty old. Right click on storage group and select properties, Hosts, go into engineering mode (Ctrl+Shift+F12 ..messner), select Advanced. Make sure all paths are checked.

Doing the nodeWWN:portWWN gets past the error.  However, when rescan Disk Management I am not seeing the LUNs.  I've added the LUNs and Hosts to the one of the storage groups.

I would think you should see host wwn in connectivity status. Cable is good?  HBA drivers loaded?

All paths are checked.  I'm hooking SPA directly to the HBA. I've just modified to the exact above and see nothing in Computer Management.

I'll try another set of cable but HBA driver is installed.  On the Brocade HBA's Host Connectivity Manager I can see the fabric name of the SPA.  However, I do noticed inthe Connectivity Status that the "Fiber Logged in" is NO...not sure what this means.

Do you have a win2k3 box around, just to rule out it's not win2k8 related.

Yes.  I can try that....but that would only prove that the box may be useless.  Thanks for you help.  Will update.

Actually got it working.  I went ahead and tossed in a switch, instead of direct connection, and Zoned the ports.  I'm seeing the two LUNs.  Thanks for the nodeWWN:port WWN info.

ahh..worked with a switch ? If you still want to try direct connection, try reversing rx/tx on your cable on one side.

Ah...forgot about that.  Should work...but I'll utilize a switch...got 4 old Silkworm 3200 around.  Also, this way I can utilize the redundant head of that CX200 box...even though I only have on HBA on this server.  Thanks for help on  WNN string.
