Hello,

Please open an SR with EMC Support.

From the SP Collect Output you have attached, it is obvious that the storage pools are full and you already exceeded the threshold.

You may want to increase the thin pools capacity by adding more disk drives to it.

or you can delete some unused LUNs to free some space on the storage pools.

Good Luck

Hi Thanks for getting back to me as i am unable to delete the Pools here. But with respect to usage there is only 1 LUN which seems to be 80% the remaining are still showing alot of spaces. Thin provisioning is on but there usage is not 100% and if the pools are utilized 100% how can i extend the pool as its offline and even if i add the enclosure it doesnt allow to extend because the storage pools are offline.

If you can elaborate the procedure of extending the LUN or POOLS while they are offline.

If i create a new LUN it shows me that its in ready state and i can perform normal functions on that but what about the existing POOLs how can i get the data from those pools????

I hope i clarify the situation here.

Best Regards

Your logs show that you have cache dirty which will bring the internal luns of the pool offline

05/17/2016 06:03:05 Bus 0 Enclosure 3 Disk 10(90a) Can't Assign - Cache Dirty              [0x00]   ec000a   7f10037

05/17/2016 06:03:05 Bus 0 Enclosure 4 Disk 14(90a) Can't Assign - Cache Dirty              [0x00]   e6000e   7b6004a

This needs to goto support to get resolved

Thanks

if you look at my other reply - there is clear evidence of dirty cache, unfortunately m.makadmeh@uaeu.ac.ae reply is incorrect

You must get this to tech support to get resolved

If you wish further evidence from the logs I should be able to get this out of the logs, be aware tech support will need a set of collects from both SP's to work this issue

Hello,

I was away for the weekend

working on offline pools -in some cases- requires the engineering mode (ctrl+shift+F12) or to engage EMC support (this was my advice in the beginning of the first conversation).

Please let us know the status? what was the cause and how did you solve it?

Hi,

If you are facing the following, then you MUST open an SR to engage the Unified Recovery Team.

As you have mentioned that you don't have facility for SR ... then you need to talk to the account manager from EMC who can help you!

Event log reports '90a Can't Assign Cache Dirty (CACD)' message(s).

Dirty Cache.

navicli luncache -list

LOGICAL UNIT NUMBER 2

LUN offline (Cache Dirty Condition): Yes

Identifying Dirty Cache

•If dirty cache is present  - Write Cache will not enable.

•If Write Cache is enabled  - you do not currently have dirty cache, and the events maybe due to a historical event.

•The SPlogs will have events in it like 90a Can't Assign Cache Dirty.

•LUNs will be unavailable to users.

--->>> Dirty Cache will cause Virtual Provisioned (Pool luns) to be offline.

Hola, por favor pueden comentarme como se resolvió este caso?

Yo tengo un equipo EMC VNX5100 que tiene un problema similar.

Quedo atento, espero su grata respuesta.

Saludos

Hello Julio Flores

If you have tried the steps in the thread and they haven’t resolved your issue then you will need to open a support case so that support can remove old data and get your pools online and get system working again.
