Cannot set up SMI-S account for Compellent Enterprise Manager
We are trying to create SMI-S user to enable SMI-S access for Enterprise Manager 2015 R1.
Following the instructions from EM guide, we run "Launch SMIS User Configuration Script via PowerShell" script. When we try to add a user or to list existing users we get "access denied" error. We've tried to run the script with administrator priviliges but to no avail. Compellent audit log contains the following message:
02/17/16-10:35:35 INFO cimserver audit: A CIM CreateInstance operation on instance "PG_User" in namespace "root/PG_Internal" by user "..." connected from system "..." resulted in status "CIM_ERR_ACCESS_DENIED".
We would appreciate any hints on that.

Hello Ale__8__8,
What OS are you running on your host that you are trying to setup SMI-s on as you didn’t state it in your original post? Also the username that you are trying to use is it:
The name and password of an Enterprise Manager user?
The name of a local Windows administrator user?
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I am having a similar issue, however, I've manually added the SMIS user account to the Logon as a Service right.
I am using Windows Server 2012 R2
The username/password: SMIS/More$4you
We are trying to use the local administrator account SMIS with the same password. But I still get an error saying
"WARNING: Access is denied
Please add the logon-as-a-service right to the user account manually and try again."
If I try to run it as Administrator, it quickly/momentarily opens a command window and goes away.

I get the same. Have made sure my password is 8 or less characters. Had to manually add the user and give admin rights but it always fails with the log on as a service rights and i can go no further.
EM 15.3 on Server 2012 R2 VM. Have tried various things but cannot get it to works and so cannot get SMI-S up and running. Really annoying. Any further updates on a possible solution?

How I got past this:
1. Launch Windows Powershell as an administrator
2. Set-executionpolicy allsigned
3. CD to the SMIS cmdlets folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Compellent Technologies\Compellent Enterprise Manager\msaservice\SmisConfigCmdlets on my server)
4. Run the script (.\configure-em-smis)
Note that the user has to be added in Data Collection Manager as an administrator and in Windows as an admin, and both have to have the same password (letters and numbers, 8 or less characters) before running the script.
