Decommissioning SC5020 default credentials, networking, reusing disks

Question

I have just decommissioned our old SC5020 and managed to get part way thru decommissioning it using commands via the serial port, but I have hit a road block.

It has been partly reset using various commands I found for SC4020 reset.

But I wasn't able to wipe the networking settings, and after the partial reset, my old credentials are now gone and it seems at least those are back to factory defaults.

So I have a few questions:

1. does anyone know the factory default credentials for SC5020 controllers? (I have tried: admin/admin, admin/mmm, root/calvin -- none of those seem to work).

2. does anyone know the recommended factory reset via serial port commands for the SC5020 (presumably something similar to those for the SC4020 but not exactly the same)?

and:

3. if I take SSDs out of the SC5020 and put them in new disk caddies for our old R740 hosts, are those SSDs likely to work okay as local storage in an R740?

Thanks for any advice/assistance! It isn't a super big deal. My alternative is to just take a sledgehammer to it and call it a day.

Hi,

There isn't any default password, as the password is usually created when the storage is initialized in the first setup. Factory reset is not documented as the factory reset are done by the support engineers. As for the drives, storage drives are not compatible with servers. Therefore, you are unable to reuse it in a server, R740. The firmware is different and unable to reflash it.

Some notes:

The Compellent default user is the "Admin" with a capital letter "A" and not "admin".

I have in mind that the default PW is "mmm" and for the Enterprise Manager/DSM DataCollector its "mmmm".

There are different levels of the "purge" command assuming different models or versions of the SCOS.

@DELL-Joey C not being able to re-use those drives in our old R740 hosts is a real bummer. Puts a massive hole in my intentions around using the old gear for DR. Oh well, it is what it is.

@Origin3k I'm pretty sure I tried both with Admin and admin for the username, but I will double-check that when I am in the office again on Friday.

Just wanted to close the loop on this. I had a Win and a Loss.

Loss -- I wasn't able to recover / reset access into the SC5020 in any meaningful way -- ended up junking it -- but we did keep the SSDs ... and ...

WIN -- I was able to buy drive caddies for our R740 hosts, transfer the SSDs over, and it turns out they are usable and recognised (although perhaps not "perfectly") in the R740 units -- I was able to configure a RAID5 array, build a HyperV host, run VMs on it

The disks I ended up using for the HyperV host report via the iDRAC as follows:

-- virtual disk 0 = bays 0-1 = RAID1 = 2 x 120GB Intel SSDSC2BB120G7R

-- virtual disk 1 = bays 2-6 = RAID5 = 5 x 1.92TB Samsung MZILS1T9HEJH0D4
