I have the following scenario:

1. no Active Directory
2. Windows 7 clients in workgroup
3. an LDAP server that authenticates users when they access samba servers.

Now the customer expects that the LDAP integration of the FS8600 allows to do the same he was doing with the samba servers.
From my understanding this is not possible because the FS8600 allows to map LDAP users to the AD ones, thus allowing users on UNIX machines to access cifs shares.

Is it correct to say that AD is a prerequisite in order to use the LDAP integration?
