How much is the Write Cache/memory in SC3020

Hello Friends,

I would like to know how much can i use as write cache out of 16GB/Per controller memory. Like SC 9000 there any 4GB Write Cache PCIe card.Is there any such card in SC3020 too ?. Like to understand more. Because my workload is bit more write intensive. your suggestion will help me.

How much is the Write Cache in SC3020 - Is 32 Gig cache is Dynamic for writes and reads or is there any limit to write cache size like 4GB card in SC9000/8000 ?

If there is a limit what is the upper limit  of memory should i reserve it to writes ?

Regards,

Rahul.

Hello Rahul,

With the SC3020 has a cache card that is 1gb per controller.  The 16gb of system memory per controller is used for the SCOS. You can’t use system memory as part of cache memory.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Rahul,

Here is how you can view Cache Card Status for a Controller. The Cache Card node on the Hardware tab displays status information for the cache card in the controller.

  1. Select a Storage Center from the Storage view. (Data Collector connected Storage Manager Client only)
  2. Click the Hardware tab.
  3. In the Hardware tab navigation pane, expand the Controllers node, expand the node for a specific controller, then click Cache Card. The right pane displays summary and status information for cache card in the controller.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello shivz,

The cache card in a SC5020 is 1gb card per controller.  How your SC5020 will use the cache is depends on how your system is setup and what SCOS version that you are running.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello shivz,

The system memory is used to run SCOS & backend process memory on your SC5020.  The cache card is separate from the system memory & the cache card is not accounted in system memory.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
