Join Compellent Devices together?
Coming from the Equal Logic world, where you would connect SAN Devices together in a Group. This load balanced the data across several members, etc.
Can you do the same thing with Compellent, and if so, how? The installation guy did not seem to understand what we are talking about. We just purchased a new Compellent SAN (already have one existing) and were hoping to add the two devices into a single group.

I do not see it as a feature on this device.
It can do replication between them.

The answer is a big no and a small yes...
No, the SC doesnt work as the PS(EQL) which was a "Peer Storage" and some sort of scale out system. The SC is a classic scale up.
Yes, there is the federation feature where a bunch of SC exists and when you create a new volume the advisor can tell you on which of your SCs the volume placed well. The Advisor can suggest to migrate you volume from on to another SC.
The federation needs all replication features of course.
With EQL is was way different.

When we are selling 2 SC we often needs to be setup a "mirror" based on two systems with RIRA+Live Volume licences. At the end it gives a (autom.) transparent fail over system.
You can think about the same as EQL SyncRepliation. On both systems we have 50% of the workload and mirroring the data to the other system. You can switch the Active Volume in realtime if you want.
The federation i mentioned above and the RIRA+LV are also available for SCv3020 if you have FC/iSCSI Frontend. If you have SAS than its limited.
