I think the time it takes is just dependant on the performance of your EM server. It shouldn't take to long.

It's nice to schedule to CYA in case you forget but basically you just need to run it after you add/change replications.  It doesn't impact the arrays.

Yes it was taking awhile for me, but my EM server was hung a bit. After I fixed that it took about 10 seconds. Of course I called co-pilot to check so he must have had the magic touch.

I was also under the impression from a document  that the Restore Points need to be saved after each replay? That is not true? IE if I am taking Hour replays, I need to schedule my Restore Points to save every hour? You are saying though they only need to be saved after a new replication or removing a replication. I will do an automatic schedule anyway just for validation. I am just trying to determine the frequency I need. Thank you.

Nope, not every Replay (thankfully!)

I would say it won't hurt doing it more often than not but it is basically as you either add a replication or modify the settings of an existing one you need to do the save.

Cool, thank you. I will be doing my first Test Failover today or tommorow. And then an actual Activate DR. I pulled out a host from one of my ESX clusters and gave it a test Volume on a separate server cluster on the compellent. So I can see the behavior. My understanding is a Test DR simply creates a View from the replicated volume on the DR site, and maps it to your server/cluster. While an Activate does something similar yet yanks the mapping from the source system. So I need to test so I can be prepared for APDs, etc :(
