SC4020 License

I am seeking assistance in recovering the licensing information for a Dell Compellent SC4020 storage array that was originally purchased in 2015.
The equipment was acquired as part of a solution consisting of:
  • 1 × Dell Compellent SC4020
  • 3 × PowerEdge FX2 chassis
  • 1 × SC200 expansion enclosure
I have the associated Dell order numbers and our internal purchase order No
The SC4020 details I have are for the following and can be provided
  • Express Service Tag:
  • SCOS Version:
  • Top Controller Serial Number:
  • Bottom Controller Serial Number:
The solution was procured through our reseller,  called Onyx.
The installation was performed by a Dell engineer.
I  can also provide documentation from the original purchase and deployment for reference.
The hardware has been in storage for approximately seven years and we are now looking to repurpose it. During decommission, all disks were securely wiped and the system was returned to factory settings. Unfortunately, we no longer have access to the original licensing information or Digital Locker account associated with the purchase, as the personnel involved have since left the organisation.
We also contacted the original reseller. However, the company has since been acquired, and the current team has been unable to assist with recovering the licensing details.
Given the information above, would you be able to help us identify or recover the original SC4020 licensing associated with this hardware, or advise on the available options for reactivating the system?
Thank you for your time and assistance. I would be happy to provide any additional information required.
Many Thanks.

Hello tichp,

In most cases as long as you have a set of logs from you system you can use that to find your license information. Since you state that all the drives have been wiped, we can’t get any logs from the system. The issue that you are running into is that to get the license, activate license and apply any updates you need to have an active support contract on your system. Since the system was purchased in 2015 you can’t get a contract extension as the system is over 10yrs old.
