SVc2020 not reclaiming space
Good morning,
We have a SNMP trap "scDiskFolderSUFreeSpace", it shows that the SVc2020 has 910GB of free space left.
Because we have Vmware 5.5 i'd run the unmap tool 2 days ago, to reclaim space back. But when i looked this morning it still says 910GB of free space.
That's weird because when i open the Dell Storage Manager it says free space 13,38TB. Even the Historical graph has a line that is going down. Now i'm lost about how much free space we have left. What is the correct value?
Some extra information from within the storage manager
* Configured Space 24 TB
* Oversubscribed Space 0 MB
* Available Space 24.02 TB
* Free Space 13.38 TB
* Allocated Space 23.13 TB
* Used Space 10.64 TB
Best regards,
Jeroen

Hello Jeroen,
Here is a link to the Dell Storage Manager guide & if you look on page 174 it explains about space recovery for virtual environments. http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/storage-sc2000_administrator-guide_en-us.pdf
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Sam,
Thanks for the reply, unfortunately i cannot find the "Server" view or the "Automated Space Recovery" option in the Dell Storage Manager Client (v16.3.1)
Best regards,
Jeroen

Hello Jeroen,
When you login to DSM do you see the tab that says servers on the left-hand side of the window towards the bottom? If you do is the server in the list?
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Sam,
I've check again, but i cannot find the server tab :(.
I'm not seeing any tabs at all at the left-side. I only have tabs in the top. Summary\Storage\Hardware\Charting\Alters\Logs and that's it.
Best regards,
Jeroen de Weerd

Hello Jeroen,
Do you have Data collector installed? As I think you are logging in just using the IP of the controller and not using data collector to get the other menus.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

One thing to mention is Snapshots hold on to White Space (ESX calls this Dead Space). Once you run space recovery it may take a couple of days to reflect the free space. Also, if you look at the Volume space on the 2020 versus the space in ESX do they match?

Hello Sam & Bob,
I didn't know that i needed the collector for that option, i've installed it and enabled the option.
Now let's wait and see.
@DELL-Bob Mi the space in ESXI matches the on in the storage manager.
