We are doing a DR deployment using VMware SRM and Compellent Async replication. Before we have SRM deployed, I am trying to determine how to test DR just using Enterprise Manager. I am bit confused, because it seems that if I activate a DR plan in Enterprise Manager I realize that view volume at the DR site gets created from the replays--and my VMware servers get mapped. However, at the same time will the source volume get unmapped from any servers or clusters? For integrity it seems it may. However, if you are not in a disaster situation, and are just moving the Lun over to the DR site, how do you prevent the source ESX clusters from any APD errors having a live datastore yanked? Aside from manually going in and unmounting/deatching the datastores from the ESX hosts. Thanks!
