Brocade ISL

Hi Guys,

Just a quick check with all of you, if I purchase a brand new DS220 SAN switch, does it come with the capability to link up to another SAN switch to form Inter switch link or do I have to purchase a license to enable that function? If it does come with that capability, what is this DS200B-TR TRUNKING FOR DS-2X0B license for?

Thanks

You can connect 2 switches without extra costs, but there's no load balancing and failover built in. If you purchase the license, there will be load balancing and failover.

W/o license you can connect multiple links, but there's no way to tell which ISL your traffic will take.

there is no load balancing but what do you mean there is no failover ? If i have two ISL links between two switches and one ISL links goes down ..the other one will take over.
