Cannot generate a McData switch event

Question

Hello, Can someone help me identify what is needed to generate an event on a McData switch.? I have tried to block/unblock a port and also removed and reinserted a SFP. None of these actions have generated an event from the switch. It is the small 16-32 port switch with native management tool. What we are trying to do is trap all messages using SNMP but are unable to test because we cannot get the McData switch to generate an event. Any help is appreciated.
