powermt commands report "No device(s) found" for Hitachi array under SLES9
I have a customer site where we're adding three new BladeCenters where we already have three running. All are connecting to Hitachi SANs. When I try to configure PowerPath, I get the error "No device(s) found". I also see that "powermt display" reports "Hitach logical device count=0", which I assume is the root of the problem for PowerPath. These new servers connected to a Hitachi DF600F via Emulex HBA through Brocade switches and are running SLES9SP3.
However, this is from a diskless server thatis already booting from the Hitachi SAN! I should at least see the boot LUN! "hwinfo --disk" reports multiple Hitachi disk drives as:
/dev/sda (/dev/sg0)
/dev/sdb (/dev/sg1)
/dev/sdc (/dev/sg2)
/dev/sdd (/dev/sg3)
/dev/sde (/dev/sg4)
/dev/sdf (/dev/sg5)
/dev/sdg (/dev/sg6)
/dev/sdh (/dev/sg7)
We're following the same process we've used successfully in the past - any idea why the Hitachi is not found?
One difference I see is that the three production chassis are connected to "HITACHI OPEN-V" rather than "HITACHI DF600F". All servers are using PowerPath v4.5.1 - is there a compatibility issue?
