problem connection qle2460 hba cards to brocade silkworm 200e

We have a new server with 2 Qlogic QLE2460 cards in it. I installed ESXi 4.0 on the machine and it recogizes the cards correctly in the Storage Adapters area.

The problem is when trying to connect to our Brocade 200E Silkworm switches. The firmware has been updated on the cards, but the switch just flashes amber for the port and the port details say U-port for the port type. I tried changing this to F-port, but when you look at the details for the port is still says U-Port and disabled. I enabled it and it says No_Sync for a short time, then changes to disabled.

Any ideas how to change this from U-port or what may be the problem?

There are other hosts connected to the fibre switches with no issues but they don't have this version of hba card.

The hba cards themselves just have all the leds flashing at the same time.

U-port should become F-port upon successful flogi from the host. Can you try different host/cable/patch panel port ?

Hello,

Are the switches 200e's or 220b's? What version of firmware is on the switch?

Thank you.

I've seen coincidences where for a new host 2 patch cables were faulty. After relpacing them, the problem was gone. And make sure the SFP connectors are clean. After using them, put the rubber cap on them to protect the RX and TX sides !
