SFP 4GB and 8GB

Hi,

I have a 4GB Brocade switch, I would like to confirm that
I can change a 4GB Multimode SFP with a 8GB Multimode SFP.

Thanks

I'll check for the exact model on site, in the meantime it is an IBM
Blade server SAN I/O Module with integrated brocade 4GB/S switch
module.

Thanks

It appears the switch is a 4Gb switch, so although you might insert an 8Gb SFP, it will never work at that speed; switching back to 4, 2 or 1 will probably work just fine as the standard dictates backwards compatibility.

I believe it was stated the switch is 4 Gig and the SFP is 8 Gig if I read it correctly.

I agree with RRR. I don't believe it will work at that higher speed and I don't even know if it will work at 4 Gig. I'd recommend checking with IBM on this though.

Thank you.

Hello,

Yes, it is me, formerly CiscoKid and now ConnectrixHelper. I moved back over to Brocade side and changed my login. I have been spending some time brushing up on my Brocade skills. Thank you for welcoming me back.
