Suggestions for resources. Classes, books, tutorials

I find myself thrust into the world of fiber connectivity. Do you have recommendations regarding tech classes, tutorials, books, etc that can help someone get up to speed on fiber connectivity.

- Connectrix B-Series Architecture and Management - Self Study (B = Brocade)
- Connectrix Foundations - Self Study
- Fibre Channel in a SAN Environment - Self Study

- Host to Storage SAN Connectivity (instructor lead training)
- SAN Management (instructor lead training)

These are EMC trainings. The first 3 are web based trainings.

What kind of storage arrays ?
There's an excelent 5 day Cisco class from EMC, as well as classes to help you set up hosts to storage arrays. It all depends on exactly what you are looking for.

As it is now, we have 2 Brocade 4900's and 2 - 3900's. Attached to an Hitachi Thunder. Also, various small disk enclosures (JBODs ) and tape drives. That sort of thing.
Increasing number of Virtual Machines hosted from 4 ESX servers.

What's your link with EMC ? I only see 1 Hitachi and 2 types of Brocade.... And VMware, ok, but the VMware VCP course is rather good for VMware environments !

As I understand it, Brocade was purchased by EMC. A Brocade 4900 is also listed as an EMC something. Our org already had 2 of the Brocade 3900's, which are still in use, and a lone, now retired, Brocade 3800. We recently asked our reseller for 2 Brocade 4900's, to allow for growth. They sent the EMC 'something'. The name being slightly harder to remember than 4900.

If I am wrong about any of the who bought what, a 4900 being the same as a 'whatever',..... I sure am open to being corrected. I'll make no claims about actually knowing anything [yet].

Brocade isn't purchased by EMC. Brocade bought McData though.

You can however buy Brocade or Cisco switches from EMC and they'll put an EMC sticker on the switch and give it a Connectrix name to make is simple.

Brocade 3900 = EMC DS-32B2
Brocade 4900 = EMC DS-4900B (= 64 ports maximum)
