2012 Thread (14Z oversold on Black Friday)

Bad response from Dell. They are hurting their image. I have the same problem with the over sold 14z.  Called the phone number got tired of waiting so I hung-up... Doesn't Dell keep track of there inventory? and how about those gateway timeouts during the sale. Server kept crashing. I thought they were a computing company ? (bumbling response all the way around)

I added the inspiron 14z to my cart on black friday, pressed the checkout button.  After waiting for quite a while, I was thrown off line.  I refreshed and the same thing happened.  The third time I got a far as loading in my address, thrown off again.  Refreshed got to my address thrown off.  After nearly 1.5 hrs of trying, the item was sold out.  Tried to chat with a agent, they said I should wait and try the three o'clock sales.

My order was  cancelled without any notice. I bought those for gifts. Now Dell made me like a idiot. I spent whole night online to get the BF deal, and now i have nothing. You guys did a good job.

I got an email today that says:
Thank you for your Inspiron 14z purchase on Black Friday (235581010).  Unfortunately, due to overwhelming response on that particular deal, the laptop was oversold and we do not have the supply needed to fulfill all of the orders. We have an alternative, equally exciting deal to make up for this inconvenience – we are replacing your order with the new, upgraded$399 Inspiron15 at no additional cost to you.
Should I go for it?

Hi rkimble1183,

Such situations can be annoying, I request you to try it again and it should work.

Due to Black Friday and Thanks giving day offers the traffic in the website might be full and that is the reason this could have happened. Apologies for inconvenience

Same experience with me. I could not talk to a representative after 1.5 on call.ITS DELL's FAULT they oversold and DELL will profit from it. But we customers will have to bear the frustrations and disappointments.Additionally according to them Insprion15 (launched in 2009) is a replacement for Insprion14Z(launched in 2011). So we all got the deal on a 599 $ laptop but not they are pushing a 400$ old laptop down out forcefully. Or you cancel the order. Either ways its a profit for Dell.At least I along with my family and friends will take a lesson and not come back to dell.

I could not talk to Dell rep even after waiting for 1.5 hrs. But was able to talk on chat.....

What Dell is offerring is a 2009 old laptop in lieu of the ultrabook...  It is so frustrating.  ... At least they should have given us a comparable laptop

I recieved the same email (14z is now Inspiron 15).  I've been on hold now for ~ an hour, waiting to speak to customer care.

Hello,

I ordered the 14z on Black Friday, and I received confirmation of the order.  This morning I recieved an email that my order has been switched to an Inspiron 15, which is an inferior product (much smaller battery, and 25% heavier).  Also, my shipping date is now unknown.  This order is a holiday gift, so the shipping date is very important to me.  I want to know my options on what product I'm actually going recieve, and when I'm going to receive it.

I've called the 1-800 # included in the email to discuss the order, and I've been on hold for over an hour.  How can I get my questions answered?  At a minimum you should be able to cancel orders without having to wait on hold, especially when the fault lies solely with Dell.

Needless to say this experience is very disappointing.  Don't offer Black Friday deals if you are incapable of fulfilling orders.

Hi,

I too has have the same exprience. I am unable to talk to any dell representaive even after calling them several times even wait for 1.5 hrs...

The 14z laptop is still available on Dell's website and even is in offer. I think this is a fraud.

Insprion 15 is not a replacement of 14z its like comparing a merc with corolla.

Why I am being offered a inferior laptop when I ordered for a laptop which suits me.

I ordered Insprion 14z deal.  http://www.theblackfriday.com/dell-blackfriday.shtml

Today I got a mail that laptop is not available (It is still order-able from  dell.com ) and they will give insprion 15. The later is a older bulky laptop with below power battery.

I could not reach out to dell customer care even after waiting couple of hours and calling them multiple times. But I was able to chat with a customer care rep who is giving me consolation but to giving resolution.

Now I have options to cancel the deal or I will be forced to buy this old bulky laptop

THANK DELL ..... AND FOR YOU OFFERS

Did you receive confirmation that the Inspiron 15 would not ship till after Decemeber 8th?

I don't think Dell feel that way.

Look, they offer an old Inspiron 15 to replace my 14z.

Those two things are not comparable. 14z is a ultrabook, at least it looks like it.  That's the biggest reason I bought 14z.

The closest model to the 14z BF deal is  the same 14z model with WIndows 8 which they are still selling.   But they offered inspiron 15.

This is not the right way to do business, Dell.
