Dell repairs
I sent my Dell Inspiron 13 for repairs. Dell service tech found an issue with the mother board and I paid $342 for repairs. After that I was called by the Tech and told that my LCD screen was flickering and needs to be replaced. My issue is that this should have been diagnosed during the initial process because I paid $527 for this computer and now I will have paid $500 to repair it when I could have just purchased a new computer. This is unreasonable !!!!

A bad mainboard probably meant the system would not power up and run. In that case, the screen issue would have been invisible to the technician and revealed itself only after the system was up and running. If you take an automobile to a mechanic with a no-start issue, until that's repaired the technician would not know whether there are other issues. Once running, the mechanic could well find a faulty transmission next - increasing the repair cost.
Any notebook computer that sells for under $1,000 is not really worth the cost of a mainboard replacement once the warranty expires (which is also why you should never purchase a new notebook with less than a 3-year warranty).
