Dell Shipping Problems
I am so tired and frustrated with Dell right now beyond belief. I understand the problems arises, and delays happen, but for Dell not to know why and order has been delayed is ridiculous for one. Two Dell should not be sending out emails saying your order has been shipped when the carrier doesn't have the order, or at least put in the email stating that it can take up to 24 to 72 business hour for the carrier to pick up the order from the warehouse. I ordered my computer over 3 weeks ago. I has been delayed once for unknown reason and nobody seems to tell me anything and if they do telling me something its a complete lie and do the opposite, I receive and email at 5:02 am saying that my order has been shipped, Dell provided a link in the email to check the status of the order, so I thought I would do that and get my tracking number. to my surprise there was no tracking number and the Status still said In Production, I thought well it is 5 in the morning I will give it until 10 am so Dell can change the status. I checked just before 9:30 am to see if the status had change, still no change, I contacted Dell to see what was going on, the lady I spoke to told me that my order has been sent to the warehouse so it can get picked up by the carrier and should go out with in 24 to 72 business hours, I was frustrated, because I didn't understand why I receive an email saying that my order has already been shipped, so I contacted an agent through email and asked the same question, they guy told me that it takes that long for the status to change, I asked why I received an email saying it was shipped when it was, he still hasn't gotten back to me yet. I am frustrated with this mess. All I wanted to know why I received and email saying my order has been shipped and why hasn't Dell changed the status, and when am I going to receive my tracking number, Or simply when is the carrier going to pick up my order if they haven't already, I am suppose to receive my order on or before 1/21/13 which is Monday and I have no way of tracking it down or know if it going to be here or not when Dell says its going to be here. If someone can please help me or if you had the same problem, Dell should either not send out a shipping email until it in the carriers hands or the should amend it by stating that your order can take up to 24 to 72 hours before the carrier picks it up. or just send or two email one saying that your order has been sent to the warehouse for shipping and another when the carrier picks it up saying that is has been shipped. This is suppose to be 2nd business day shipping, and one of Dell CS agent said it was switched to next business day nut I still have no way of tracking my order and the Order Status is not helpful when they don't change it.

It seems to be a worldwide problem for Dell. I ordered on December 3rd (2019), it is now the 16th and Dell claims my laptop is somewhere. The tracking link on their website redirects to UPS, but I was just told on the phone that they use DHL. Apparently, the service agent on the phone could track the shipment as having been in Amsterdam and Luxemburg on the 11th. But no trace of the shipment for the last five days!
12/17 = The order is out for delivery today. DELL-Cares

Can you tell me when/how you got your computer?!? I'm in the same boat! I got an email Friday at noon stating my order shipped, but no tracking number. I go to the link and it says it's still in production. No one can tell me WHERE it is! One guy will tell me it's still in production, one tells me it's still in testing, or one guy
told me it shipped from outside the US and won't be Next business day until it arrives at the carrier and gets scanned in the US, though they don't have a tracking number! I said so what you're saying is you have no idea where it's at... it's lost? He said it's not lost, they just don't have a tracking number. I said then that's lost. He said not until he hears from Logistics, I said well logistics sent me an email that said it shipped, you're saying it hasn't... that means it's lost!

I got my laptop one week after Dell sent me that It shipped email, my computer was suppose to be 2nd business day shipping but it was I got a week after that email. I did they same called Dell asked where it was why I haven't received a tracking number, I would call almost everyday, but no one knew anything I was so frustrated with Dell to the point I wanted to cancel my order they told me it was to late to cancel my order, I told the guy that was working with my case that I wanted to be compensated with some of my money or give me 100 dollar coupon, Dell gave me a 100 dollar coupon for my troubles, yet it doesn't make a difference that they lied and took there sweet time getting me my computer that I had to wait almost a month for, not to mention the laptop I purchased was for school. I looked pretty dumb walking into my computer class without my computer if you know what I mean. But all Dell could do is say sorry, and give a 100 dollar coupon. To be honest I think Dell needs to change there automated email it shipped until actually the product had been shipped instead and there is a tracking number so you can track the shipment. Or they should include one extra step before sending out the shipped email, saying that the producted you order is now in testing or something like that. I understand your frustration and be honest I won't ever go through Dell again. That's all I have to say, I wish you good luck and I hope you get your order soon.

Yeah, that's the SAME thing that's happening here! AGH! I just want my laptop! Mine is for computer class too... guess it's gonna be yet another week before I can go to class with a computer!
Shipped means SHIPPED. Not produced, not fixing to be sent to the carrier etc. It means it SHIPPED. When I ship stuff I get a tracking number immediately, even if Fed-Ex doesn't pick up the shipment for a few days.
I am SO ill... I really had high hopes for the Customer service. I didn't have this problem when they shipped me the accessories! Just the high dollar ticket item.
Thank you for your response. That makes me feel a little better that it's not totally lost! :-(

The most amazing part about this story is here we are more than 6 years later... nearly 7 years later and not a dang thing has changed! I'm going through this very exact same situation right now.

Same for me! Bought a computer end of November — was initially delayed 2 weeks and got a notification on Thursday 12/12 that the order was shipped and it was being sent “Overnight Delivery” with FedEx. FedEx hasn’t received the item yet... and it’s now Saturday 12/14. I doubt I will see the computer before mid/late next week knowing logistics.. I’ve never seen a tech company their size operate so inefficiently in this area. I’ve complained to just about everyone there and no one seems to care. Each person I talk to is a clueless as the last.
