Dell XPS 15 FedEx Delivery Stolen - Found Empty Box with some random scan code showing as proof of delivery

I ordered Dell XPS 15 on November 24th and I received an email informing that it is delivered today - December 3rd at 2:43 pm. I went to check within 5-10 minutes, only to find that the delivery is an empty box.

It is absolutely unfortunate that dell is not able to do a discrete delivery and the order is delivered with a 'No signature required' option (which btw I tried to change in tracking details delivery management but FedEx always showed an error).

The laptop inside is stolen and the box is placed in such a way that it looks like it's not even opened. We went around to check if there is any sign of the person delivered but it only left us in despair. The only way it can be stolen in such a minimal time is if it's stolen by FedEx delivery person which I can't believe that they can do such things. I clearly mentioned my phone number and still they didn't even give a call which is so fishy. A picture of some blurry scan code is attached as proof of delivery in the FedEx tracking page which doesn't even relate to my Dell delivery.

I have seen many threads with such issue of delivery with FedEx, so if Dell can please change the delivery ways it would be more assuring to customers like me, while spending so much amount on expensive electronics. Me and my friends were thinking to buy more from Dell, but we are rethinking now looking at this situation. I spent so much amount on this and I would like to request Dell to please take action and provide appropriate steps to resolve this. Thank you so much.

You need to start by contacting your local police department. Obtain a copy of the report - you will need it for filing a claim.

Then call (not email) Dell to inform them.  You may also want to call your credit card company to report the issue.

@ejn63 Thank you for your response. Yes since it's weekend I'm not able to file police report, will be doing it right away tomorrow morning.

I have opened the dispute with credit card company and started a claim in FedEx. Hoping Dell would escalate this process to get me my laptop:(

Dell will need that police report before they do anything on your behalf.
