Smart Selection

I was laptop shopping and saw the Smart Selection icon on some of the laptops. It's states these are preassembled systems that are available for immediate shipping. The laptop I bought said it would ship out the next calendar day on a business 2-5 days delivery.I go through the whole process it says at the end it will ship out tomorrow if I order it by this time. I go ahead and order it and make payment and then when the receipt shows up it shows an 18 day wait as long as there are no delays. I changed or added nothing as this was the only reason I bought the Dell due to Smart Selection.

I sent a text to Dell support and told them I was baffled because this was a Smart Selection and still is showing it on the shopping page as one. I got an answer back from support that avoided my question completely. It said my system is in production stage and it appears it is nearing the final stages of it. That was a week ago and it still shows in production. It appears Dell deliberately does this to get the sell. I have searched a multitude of boards on this issue and it is a common complaint of how long Dell products take to get. Avoiding my question further leads me to believe it is a sales tactic.

Makes me want to return this or refuse the delivery if and when it gets here. It seems the bigger the company and the more money it makes they tend to not care about their customers because they start to actually believe customers need them and they don't need to treat customers with any respect or dignity.

If I ran my business this way I'd be out of business.
