CIFS Share without authentication stopped working
We are running a Data Domain DD2500 with OS 5.6.0.5-501748. After encountering issues with servers being unable to access the server (which later turned out to be a network issue) I noticed a strange issue with the workgroup authentication. It had a warning saying it could not be used while AD authentication is used but AD authentication was disabled. I reapplied a disabled to AD Authentication and it seems to have fixed this so it shows workgroup access and AD disabled.
However, now we get a prompt for credentials when attempting to sign into a data domain share. Our CIFS shares are configured to not use AD authentication though. When I review the CIFS shares we have a share name and a list of the clients that are allowed to connect. The user list is blank. However, it still prompts for credentials from one of the listed clients. Now this was working before any changes were made to the DD so it is obvously related to the DD domain rather than a windows issue.
I see the following in detailed information:
Share Status Enabled, Clients (the correct hostnames are listed but not FQDN and not IPs), user and groups is empty with just an asterisk and it lists Total number of users/groups as 0. Options are set to unlimited max connections, allow browsing, and writable.
Any idea if there is some setting that may have been enabled to be forcing authentication requirements?
