Client side dedupe to DD670 with boost/ost?
I have two DD670's and just started using backupexec 2014. I have DDboost and the OST plugin for the BE server.
Can i use client side dedupe directly to the target or do i have to go through the BE server?

You should be able to bypass the Backup Server, yes:

When i setup the job to use "bypass backup server" and go directly to OST. The job works but actually goes through the backup server and completes with a message saying the job was successful but with errors. It states the bypass didnt work. I'm hearing from some people that the DD670 isnt supported for this option. I have a ticket in with EMC to confirm.

Can you post the exact error message your are seeing.
What is your version of DDOS.
Issue on the DataDomain command line the command:
uname

Please remember that this message is from Symantec backupexec. DD670 is just the target. EMC is telling me that this should work but i've read otherwise from other sources. Even though you tell the job to bypass the backup server and go directly to the DD670 and use its inline deduplication it WONT. It will just go through the backup server still.
"Client-side deduplication is enabled for this job, but it could not be used"

You need to check this with Symantec support and see why data flow is roited that way.
