Configure Replication For Specific Interface
I am working setting up my DD160 systems so that replication works once we move the second system to our disaster recovery site. I have two eth0x interfaces wired. My initial thought was to use one interface (eth01a since it's currently used to backup data) to backup data on our home office network. I would use the second interface (eth01b) as my replication interface. I would set up eth01b so that its IP matches our replication network (home office - 10.100.1.100, dr site - 10.100.1.101 with the appropriate VLAN configured on this interface) and then set up a route statement so that the traffic gets routed appropriately depending on if the traffic is for a backup or for replication.
I looked through the GUI but couldn't find anywhere to set this up. So I was looking at how I can specify that replication traffic uses the eth01b interface and came across this article:
Forcing Replication Traffic Over a Specific
It looks like I can specify that replication uses eth01b using this method. However, I have one question. When I look at my DD160 system in the replication tab under the status it says "No replication contexts have been configured". Looking at the article referenced above it looks like this requires a replication context.
Is my plan to use the interfaces in this manner reasonable? How do I create replication contexts and are they needed for what I want to do?
Thanks.

This is currently in a seeding configuration but we're getting ready to move the equipment to our DR site. I have the MTree replication pairs configured between the two grids and data is being replicated as expected. Is setting up these replication pairs what you mean to by setting up a replication context? If that's all I need to do then why is it telling me I don't have any contexts configured?
Thanks.

I have replication set up between two DD160s. Avamar isn't connected to the DD160s at all. I have MTrees set up on DD160A and have a replication pair for the MTree from DD160A to DD160B.

snowmizer,
It sounds as if you are seeding from an (Avamar) grid to each DataDomain individually. If it's telling you there are no contexts setup that means you are not replicating from dd<==>dd. Is this what you mean by:

I'll take a look at this blog. It looks like it could be very helpful for what I'm trying to achieve.

Hi snowmizer,
You need to decide what type of replication you want to do first (collection, directory, mtree) and then setup a context to start the syncing process. You are right in the statement about setting it up to go over eth0b interface. Here is our Replication FAQ that can help you decide what type of replication is right for your environment.

snowmizer, could you email me the serial numbers of the DD's that are telling you no replication contexts exist? I'd like to look at their AutoSupports and check the configuration. My email is patrick.betts@emc.com . Thanks in advance.
