data domain link aggregation
Hi,
Pardon my beginner question. If I have 2 cards on ddr: card1 has eth0a and eth0b; while card2 has eth5a and eth5b.
I think it's perfectly OK to lacp (link aggregate) both card1 and card2 together, right? (as long as the are of the same type.)
What are potential problems that one might see for bundling them together?

I have similar setup (LACP between 2a and 5a and then 2b and 5b). This works fine. You might noticed traffic is not balanced that much if you use L2L3 or lower, but this is by design of protocol. You can override it with higher version I'm told and also if you use DD ifgroups.

why didn't you LACP 2a and 2b together, same for 5a and 5b; instead of 2a and 5a (or 2b and 5b)? That would still work OK, right?

It would, but I wish to eliminate any sort of NIC (dual port) failure so therefore I team ports on two different NICs. Btw, you should move this thread to Data Domain forum - this is general ECN help area.

Hi, I am moving this thread to the Data Domain Support Forum space where this thread can have higher visibility and may get more input from other community members. The ECN Help Forum space where you originally created this thread is just for asking questions about the usage and functionality of the EMC Community Network (ECN) platform itself rather than any specific EMC products or solutions. Thanks.
