data domain virtual edition
Hi,
Is it possible to download the Data Doamin Virtual edition trial?
Where can I download it from?
What privileges do I need to have in order to download?
Thank you

I the past there was an actual DDVE trial version actually even called that way, to be downloaded as such, however you would need support site credentials to see the downloads in https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/data-domain/drivers to be able to see and download the latest DDVE LTS (long term support) "PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition 7.7.5.1 LTS2022" with the download links for DDVE on:
• Azure
• GCP
• Hyper-V
• KVM
• VMC
• vSphere
So if you might have Dell support, than you might be able to download and deploy it, as when remaining below 500GB, it does (or at least did...) not require a license. Haven't tried this with later ddos7.x DDOS versions yet, as I deployed DDVE in my own test lab with ddos 6.x at the time and kept on continually updating until 7.7.5.1 now, not needing a license as I remained below 500GB raw capacity.

Dunno if you'd reach out to Dell, for example via chat, if anything might be possible there?
You might be able to spin-up a DDVE virtual edition in the cloud, either AWS, azure, GCP, by selecting DDVE deployment through the marketplace? However that also already comes at a price as you'd have to pay for the resources consumed in the cloud, even if you would not have to have a capacity license yet if you remain below 0.5TB. So instead of paying Dell, you'd be paying the cloud hypervisor for using the underlying VM.
Also that seems to have changed somewhat nowadays:
https://azuremarketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/apps/dellemc.dell-emc-datadomain-virtual-edition-v4?tab=overview
"Starting DDOS 7.8, when freshly deployed, the DDVE comes with an evaluation license with all supported features and maximum capacity. The evaluation license now provides a 90-day grace period following expiry on DDVE.
...
Try a full-featured version of DDVE before you buy!"
Similar for other cloud hypervisors supported to run DDVE.
