dd2500 sysadmin account locked

Hi.

We have EMC DD2500 and cannot login to sysadmin account.

If I do it from web interface it says that "The username or password is invalid.". I use serial number as a password.

If I do it from ssh I receive "Account locked due to 17 failed logins". It's been in this state for a week.

How can I unlock sysadmin account?

How can I reset password for sysadmin account?

Is there any other default account to log on?

The default sysadmin password from the first boot is changeme (sometimes) or serial number. You might have a BOOST user setup that could login.

For security, as you fail the login more and more the timeout to login again increases to keep hackers out. After 17 login failures, you might have to wait 24 hours to try again, if you reboot the box, the timer resets to zero.

I would call support and see if they can help with access, but you might need to wipe the box and start over if you lost your password.

Hello,

You have to use serial number from papers covered in the box, it may sometime differs from SN on box, from time to time password has not been changed and default as fas as I remember is abc123.

Hi.

What is the default password for BOOST user?

To much time have passed and sysadmin account is still locked. I think waiting is not the solution )) What can I do to unlock it?

You create the boost user, there is not a default one.

Q1. What is the Hostname & the Serial number of the Data Domain?

Q2. Have you ever logged in to the box using sysadmin so far? if yes when (how many days ago)?

Q3. Do you have any other user account which is having Admin role defined in Data Domain System?

HI SKamil,

The password can be set from the BASH prompt. If you have another user which you can use to login from SSH DellEMC support will be able to change to BASH mode and reset the password, if not the admin password can be reset from single user mode, NOTE This process will require a reboot.

If you are a Partner and are comfortable with Linux/Unix you could follow the KB at the link below, otherwise you should log a call with support and get them to do it.

Hope this helps,

D
