DDBMA Restore From Secondary Data Domain

Hi there

We are currently using DDBMA For Microsoft Applications.

DBs are backed up to a storage unit on the primary DD. This is then replicated using mtree replication to a secondary DD.

However when attempting to restore from the secondary using DDBMA the list of instances are blank.

In addition if restoring from the primary the only instance listed is the one I am currently using.

This creates issues in the following scenario.

The entirety of site 1 goes down, DR is declared. A SQL Server exists on site 1 called SQLSERVABC. A DR SQL Server exists on site 2 called SQLSERVERDR. I need to restore all SQLSERVABCs databases onto SQLSERVERDR. I fire up DDBMA. Now this is where I will be stuck as the list of databases I will be presented with will only be on SQLSERVERDR, hence I will have no capability to restore SQLSERVABCs databases.

Has anyone had any experience of using DDBMA for DR? If so please share!

Thank you

Hi,

Upgrade to recently released version 2.0 and you will be able to perform DR exactly the way you are trying.

Confirmed - the 2.0 client makes it a LOT easier. It can be done from 1.0, but only after crafting a command line to substitute names manually of servers that you know should exist in the replicated MTree.

The important part, no matter the version number, is that you have lock box credentials added for not only your Read/Write Mtree that you use locally, but also the Replicated, Read-Only MTree as well.
