As DD uses single file system, there is no benefit of copying/moving anything.  With what exactly will you use DD Boost?

I am testing with Veeam 8 and we need it for netvault tape backups.

We have Veeam and used it without DDBoost. In order to backup the stuff from Data Domain to Tape from NetVault you need to use DDBoost and with Veeam 8 you can use DDBoost as a repository now. We got a temprary license for DDBoost to test with but all my original shares are just CIFS and you need storage units for DDBoost. I wanted to know if you can convert your existing CIFS shares to DDBoost storage units or enable them for it.

I'm not sure if format of the record has changed here, but if yes (most likely) then this might be a challenge.  I'm afraid only someone from EMC can answer that.  Meanwhile, you can always make test by dumping some new data using DDB and then moving it to tape.

                You cannot change a CIFS share to DDBoost storage Unit. If you were using CIFS share as the backup device in the backup software then you can create a New DDBoost Storage Unit and then run a duplicate job from backup application to create another copy of data on the DDBoost Storage Unit.

Once you have verified that all data has been duplicated to the DDBoost Storage Unit, you can delete the CIFS backup devices and data.
