how to speed up a FULL datadomain cleaning process ?
customer is running Data Domain OS 5.4.4.3-460654 on DD620.
The datadomain is 100% full and cleaning takes ages.
any advise ?

You can set the cleaning throttle to 90%

We are using networker/ddboost only, and we didn't notice any backup performance drop even if the cleaning was running with 95% throttle (on a DD990). Btw. you are lucky that you don't need to worry about the cleaning duration
I think some processes are heavily pushed by the cleaning - what I've seen is auto support generate, it took much more time than it is usual when the cleaning was running. It seems the CIFS server has the same challenge.
I think this problem worth an SR, the DD support guys are good, they can go deep in dd perf stats and maybe they'll able to find a resolution for you.

Hi,
I know that this is an old thread, but just wanted to share the solution i've got for a DD 2200, which i think should be the same a other DDs.
On a 2012r2 server, i've installed the SMTP server role, and setup the connection to Office 365. From there the Datadomain epayitonline is now able to relay through the local server to send emails.
