HP DataProtector and EMC DataDomain

Hi anyone,

I am looking for a implementation or best practice guide.

Our backup provider is HP DataProtector, we are interested to use EMC DataDomain with the OSTplugin.

Has someone a hint for me?

Thanks

Josue

HP announced support for DDBOOST Plugin, but EMC DataDomain does not (currently) support the HPDP StoreOnce library.  I think the OST you're thinking of is the Symantec OST plugin, available in Netbackup and BackupExec.

HP has an announcement posted on its page - Download HP Data Protector and EMC Data Domain Boost integration | HP Autonomy, but there's little technical details in it.

Your best bet might be to open a ticket with HP Support and a ticket with EMC DataDomain Support.  I've had great luck getting both support organizations talking together.

Let us know how it goes!

I believe HP implemented support for DD Boost only most recently so most of the information will have to come from HP side as DP owner.  On DD side there isn't much really - you need DD Boost license and off you go.  On DP side you will need 8.11 or later.  Quick search on HP site yields Download HP Data Protector and EMC Data Domain Boost integration | HP Autonomy
