USB module to initialize DDOS
USB module to initialize DDOS
How to get USB module to initialize Data Domain DDOS.
Detailed Information
Question:
How can we download USB module to factory initialize DDOS as a specific version?
Answer:
· In which situation, you need USB module
o You need to initialize the system by any specific reasons (be aware the existing data and settings will be cleared)
o You need to downgrade DDOS version by any specific reasons (be aware the existing data and settings will be cleared)
· Considerations
The procedure is intended for expert (EMC engineer or Service Enabled Partner) of Data Domain because management BIOS and serial connecting skills are required
· How to apply for USB module
To get USB procedure is special one because this is for installing back to factory initialize. So the URL for download is not open for public. So follow the instructions below.
1. Open Service Request
Following information is required
o Intended DDOS release code (for example, 5.6)
o Serial number of the Data Domain
o Reasons to initialize
2. The URL for applying is noticed by EMC support contact personnel.
3. Please apply from Feedback Central. So downloading USB will become available immediately after applying.
Refer to the following for apply manner. It’s not required to apply for another request.
4. Please contact us after you get the USB module. (The Service Request will be closed.)
o All versions you applied (USB module was prepared) can be downloaded.
o Any version you want to use can be used.
o The posting of rpm module is delayed against the normal one so that if there isn’t the intended version’s USB module please use one older version for the factory initialization and then upgrade it as normal DDOS upgrade.
