Hi Matt

Sorry for the delay - was on holiday.

For your first thing :  are you perhaps using DPA 5.5.1 or lower ?   There is a known issue with the strike clients drill-down - report bug. Support can give you the fix for this or upgrade to a higher version of DPA.

Second thing :  I thought it would be best to demonstrate this in a video - so I did a video clip for you that hopefully explains it better - I think it would be too large to post here (it is 17MB) , so I've placed it onto our ftp server for you at :-

ftp: // ftp. wysdm. com / customers /elvin / HowTo_DPA_QNs.mp4

Third thing: there is a Datasource under the "External" category named 'Active Directory Host List' - use this in a custom report to Merge with "Backup Client Config" and then you can see which ones are defined to the Backup App - and which ones are not ie. Orphan Clients :)

Hi Matt

What sort of assistance do you need with queries ?  are you referring to Query Nodes in DPA, or the "Database Query" datasource within the Report Editor ?

If you already have attempted to write these reports , you could :-

- post the report xml here , with sample screenshots and open it for discussion

- ask your local EMC DPA SME/TC

- open an SR with the report xml and advise Support that it is not working as you expect (it could be known issue and if applicable)

Or if you don't have the report xml yet,  you could list your questions here and we can discuss ....

Ok, thanks.

First thing..

I asked in here https://community.emc.com/thread/120716 about reporting on subsequent weekly failures. And I've set the report up and it comes out every monday morning, however

1) I can't make the report show the clients that are 1,2, or 3 striking

2) If I run the report from DPA then I get a no results returned when I try and drill down on the report

Second thing

I have 3 sites and somewhere around 30 different business units within those sites. I want to send out client summary (Or whatever) reports to each of these business units, but I don't want to have to manually create the views for each one as their VMs change quite often. I want to be able to add machines to a view by query, so inside the client name is a BU signifier so the machine name might be xxxxBU1xxxx or xxxxBU4xxxx and I want to pull all that information into 1 report for each bu.

Third Thing

I want to be able to show what is NOT being backed up by comparing the clients with an OU in Active Directory (or multiple OU's) we use Active Roles and I don't know where to start!

I'd really like to figure this out for myself, but I'm struggling to find the resources. Can someone write me a book please
