How do I check that i'm within my Networker licensed capacity?

Hi

I need to track where my Networker backups are in relation to my licensed capacity so as I know when to buy some more.

I'm pretty new to DPA but i've managed to find Networker "license conformance" report. When I run it, I can see the Number Licensed as 190TB, the Number Used as 0 and the Conforance as 100%.

Obviously, there is something missing here, can anyone tell me iof this is the correct report to use and if so, why is it not picking up any of my Networker backups?

I do get backup reports from Networker in DPA and so I do believe that it is talking to Networker.

Any Help Appreciated

First, you will need to configure DPA to discover your Networker environment.  If you haven't done so, have a look at the DPA Installation and Administration Guide.  To monitor Networker, you will need to either A) install the DPA client on the Networker server or B) configure the host agent on the DPA server.

Use the Discovery Wizard to walk you through the configuration steps.  Note that if your Networker is 7.6 or later, you'll need to pay attention to the notes in the DPA Installation Guide.

You'll need to know the hostname and OS of your Networker server.

Let us know if that helps!

Thanks Karl

My Networker servers are already seen by DPA and I do already see reports on backups but the licence conformance report does not show any capacity licenses used.

Do you know where this is configured or picked up from?

Regards

Michael

The DPA Data Collection Reference Guide shows the description of the module, and that the NSR license conformance resource has the field that DPA pulls.  As we use Avamar, I don't have a way to look this up.

You could try and create a custom report that pulls these fields, as a test.  There's a chance DPA's license conformance report is broken in some way, but I'd recommend creating an SR.  We've had really good luck with DPA support lately - hopefully, they have a better answer than me!
